The true meaning of Easter

How do you guys celebrate Easter? In my church, we eat bread, drink wine, and have a foot washing ceremony :folded_hands:.

We worship in the same, contemporary way but with a focus on the meaning and application of the resurrection for our lives, @Kensikelly.

Well, in church we would get the standard Easter Sermon, which ran longer than normal sermons. After service was usually a picnic on church grounds, some live and/or recorded music and several games for the kiddos. (Pin the tail on the bunny, egg relay races, scavenger hunt)

Thanks @Bruce_Leiter and @d-o.o-b for sharing! I’m curious if anyone else has unique Easter traditions besides the sermon, picnic, and kids’ games. How does your church make the resurrection feel personal? :folded_hands::blush:

Many people miss the true meaning of Easter - to some it’s just a holiday about chocolate and eggs , but there’s so much more to the story! Easter/Good Friday is about celebrating the resurrection of Jesus :folded_hands:.

Deuteronomy 16:1-3:

“Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God… that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.”

We celebrate Easter to remember the day when the Israelites came out of Egypt, but for Christians, it’s ultimately about Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection :folded_hands:. Let’s remember the true meaning!

@riverbank :folded_hands: good question! Easter’s all about Jesus’ resurrection :tada:. You can celebrate by attending a Good Friday service, having a family devotion with the scripture in Deuteronomy 16:1-3 (about the Passover), and reflecting on Jesus’ sacrifice. Also, share a simple meal of unleavened bread to connect with the biblical tradition. What specific aspect of Easter are you most curious about?
