This is an issue + is it ok to want to move to another country

This is some of Trump’s speech for fourth of July. He is indirectly calling America God. Using things like “We are the light of the world” and “No one can be like us” is comparing it to God. This is confusing. Does God really think that of America?

Also, all my life I’ve wanted to move to another country. Is that ok to, or am I running away from God’s blessing?

A rather brutal fact for you. There is no such thing as a Christian country.

Want to test it, get a population check from your local government and compare it to the number of seats in all the christian churches in the same area. Question could everyone fit in to those churches on Sunday? If the answer is NO you are not living in a Christian country.

As for moving abroad two questions.

1 do you have a skill that other countries want, with the required qualifcations for said country.

  1. are you fluent in the language of the country you want to move to.

Suggestion, ask your boss if there are vacancies in the firm in other countries and could you get a temporary move to such a country.

In the Clint Eastwood movie Absolute Power he plays a thief who witnesses the president kill a gal. As he explores ways of trying to escape he considers going to another country. He talks with a gal who provides false papers and she asks him if he is going to be a runner. She comments that her runners (those who move to other countries) usually don’t last five years.

The implication is that the isolation and stress of an alien country can be great. This has been seen in real life with those who have been refugees or otherwise forced to live in other countries, particularly if there is no community of which you can be a part.

I understand why that language would make you uneasy, but I don’t think President Trump was trying to call America God or put America in God’s place. He has a long track record of saying things wrong…overstating, or using language carelessly…so I don’t think every line should be treated as a precise theological statement word for word. At the same time, that’s exactly why Christians should be discerning. Even if he meant it patriotically, language that sounds like it gives a nation glory that belongs to Christ alone can still be confusing and should be weighed carefully.

And yes, I do think it’s okay to move to another country if that’s where the Lord is leading you. God’s blessing is not tied to living in America. Our true citizenship is in heaven, so the better question is not whether you’re leaving blessing behind, but whether you’re walking in obedience to the Lord wherever you go.
