A friend of mine occasionally emails these Timbits of Truth and I find them worth reflecting on. Feel free to comment. This one came today:
God can, in one single moment make a heart pure, but not even God can give a person character. Character: what we are in the dark( Heb.4:13}, would not be the precious quality it is, if it could be acquired without effort. Character is the strength and refinement of soul that we develop as we stand against the tide of life’s trials. Virtue must always be tried and test driven. Reputation is what other people think we are; character is what God knows us to be.“

“what we are in the dark” what a GREAT quote..and a lot to unpack when you think about it. Hebrews 4:13 “And there isn’t a creature hidden from His sight, but as things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” (KJV) I love it when a verse begins with “and”, or “because” or any other conjunction. It makes me look to the previous verses to really understand what is being said, or taught. What’s really cool is that chapters 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12 begin with “therefore”, and like any good math equation, one has to prove the equation true..and to do that we have to read from the beginning! Honestly, anyone who says the bible isn’t literary genius needs to actually read it, and discover these things..and Jesus. Thank you for sharing this Timbit of Truth.
BTW I live in Canada (chinada) and here we have timbits at Tim Hortons..lol. Little sugary balls of dough.
I hope you share future Timbits of Truth

I’m Canadian too. Nice to hear from a fellow Canuck. And yes, as they roll in, I will post.
