To what extent church involvement in political decisions

Hello I have been thinking on this issue for several weeks. I always think churches should not be involved in politics. During Covid days churches were not allowed to open and many conducted services online via Zoom. Some churches went against the law and opened their churches and got fined as a result. Christians are divided on this issue. If our freedom of worship or free speech is affected, does God want churches be involved by participating via signing petitions to stop bills affecting freedom of speech? Would appreciate input on this sensitive issue.

A church should not be a political organization. However, those in a church should be free to discuss current events particularly in light of what the bible teaches.

I believe, and this is why it is so important to find the correct church. So I started looking around the lobby. I saw people from all walks of life. Different Races, different “classes,” different skills and knowledge. Different levels of compassion. All together. Then I remembered this passage from:

“Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. And he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you.” But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.” Luke 8:19-21

Look what Jesus told Peter, who asked him about losing family to follow Him.

“Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. Mark 10:29-30

Let’s take a look at the family. You sleep with them, wake up with them, talk to them, and spend time together. You share the events of your day and provide comfort, encouragement, or celebrate achievements as a unit. Whenever you face a challenge or need support in your life, you can always turn to your family. Your mom or dad can help you, and your older siblings may have already experienced similar situations, so they can offer guidance as well. When you are feeling sad, they will try to comfort you, and in turn, you comfort them when they are feeling down.

God’s family? First, a building is a building. A church is the people. You can have church in the middle of a field. You can have church in the middle of the street. The church that the Word talks about is always the people. A family.

In God’s family, much like an earthly family, members progress through different stages. There are the babies—new believers who need teaching and guidance. Then come the teenagers—knowledgeable individuals who can assist with nurturing the younger ones but aren’t yet independent.

Next are the mothers and fathers, or elders, who have matured and are ready to teach, encourage, and guide others. At the head of this family is the Pastor, the earthly father, responsible for guiding the church and conveying messages from the Spirit, Jesus, or God.

So should a church discuss politics? I think so. I do not believe that the Pastor should get in the pulpit and demand you vote a certain way, but like all things, I think who is leading the country is important to discuss.

Peter

Yes churches are not recruiters for any political party, but they should be politically active.

There is a need for critical evaluation of all political parties policies and statements.

Christian values need to be woven into the political life of parties and the country.

I also think that we should in the least be politically active. If not, then we will fall into the not knowing that there are only two sexes. Man and Woman. And a couple of years ago, men were under the impression that they could have babies. And kids were thinking they could assume the role of cats, dogs, pencils, anything but the gift God gave them. Male, Female. I think “Church People” shouldn’t have any problem being politically active, and Vote. (Keep in mind with all due respect New York and Minnesota. )
