Tree doesn't eat it's own fruit

A tree doesn’t eat its own fruit, but the people and animals do. The fruits God produces through us isn’t just for us, it’s to benefit others. Just as how the tree has seeds to grow more trees, we can draw others too Christ

YES! It is nearly never about us. Jesus gave us this command.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 38:19-20

He did not say, Accept my gift and live as you will. He said Go tell others. Be a sower of the seed. However, an empty bag scatters no seed. We must take time to fill up. But then it is always about someone else. Even in trials and tribulations.

Trials and Tribulations will come. Bad things DO happen to good people. Your walk as a child of God will not be all roses and ice cream. Why? Perhaps one of the most obvious reasons is this.

“But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” Luke 22:32

Again, it is not about you. Keep this in mind. Jesus said we will know the trees by it’s fruit, for good trees produce good fruit, and bad trees produce bad fruit. Even with this, @pearlie’s statement applies.
