Demons, as the Bible describes, are fallen angels opposing God, now acting as destructive spiritual forces in the world. Jesus demonstrated authority over demons, casting them out and offering spiritual protection to believers. The Bible encourages followers to “put on the armor of God” (Ephesians 6:11-17) to resist these forces and stay spiritually safeguarded through truth and faith in Christ.
I might be inclined to post this in the Humor category, but Tucker Carlson insists he was mauled by a demon that left claw marks on his body. His wife slept through the attack.
It’s always interesting how stories about demons seem to surface in unexpected places. Tucker Carlson’s claim about being “mauled by a demon” might sound outlandish to some, but his experience raises an important topic that’s often misunderstood. The Bible tells us demons are real; they’re actually fallen angels—beings created by God who chose to turn away and act in opposition to Him. In passages like Revelation 12:3-4 and Ephesians 6:12, we see that they now work against God’s purposes, sometimes trying to disrupt our lives.
But here’s where hope comes in. The Bible is clear that Jesus has power over these dark forces. During His ministry, Jesus cast out demons, showing His authority and freeing people from their influence. For those who follow Christ, we have God’s help in resisting anything that aims to pull us away from Him. Ephesians 6:11-17 talks about putting on the “armor of God”—essentially relying on truth, faith, and God’s strength in our daily lives, which helps protect us spiritually.
Whether or not we ever encounter something quite as intense as Tucker’s story, it’s good to remember that we have protection and power in Jesus. If you’re curious to dive deeper, this article explores what the Bible says about demons and how we can stay spiritually safe.
A more fundamental question, I believe, is why an omniscient, omnipotent, omnibenevolent God who desires for all to be saved would allow a supernaturally evil and intelligent being and his demonic minions to roam the globe, wreaking havoc and deceiving the humans God desires to be saved? Doesn’t this seems “somewhat less” than omnibenevolent and “somewhat inconsistent” with a desire for all to be saved?
One answer, of course, is “That’s what the Bible says is happening and that’s all we need to know.” Ba-da-boom, ba-da-ba.
I simply don’t find this scenario plausible. I accept the reality of something like supernatural evil - experience and observation requires this - but I also think the “Satan and his demons” explanation, like many biblical doctrines, is mostly a way of talking and thinking about something we will never fully understand, something that is somehow consistent with an omnibenevolent God.
For completely non-political reasons, I do think Tucker is a nutcase. In his defense, he didn’t immediately conclude he’d been attacked by a demon - it was suggested to him. I might be thinking more in terms of a raccoon.
He also created an uproar in the JFK assassination community by saying a deep inside source, who many believed to be Mile Pompeo, had told him the unreleased JFK documents clearly implicate the CIA in the assassination. That claim fizzled in a matter of days.
When you look at the cabin where the demon attack took place, I think my raccoon theory is pretty solid. If you’ve never lived where raccoons are a nuisance (Danbury, CT in my case), you have no idea.
