Christian societies value virgin brides. Out of all the laws of Moses, what were gentile Christians to do? There is a short list.
You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. (Acts 15:29)
Christian societies value virgin brides. Were you living in a Christian Society or a Nation drinking a harlot’s wine? (Revelations 17) Was your Church or Nation more of a Virgin Israel or a Harlot Ezekiel 23? There are allegories that run through the Bible. These allegories run through multiple authors. This is part of how we know a prophet from a false prophet, and someone speaking through God’s Holy Spirit vs Some Spirit Not-God. The prophets do not contradict each other.
Why then, does God have Prophet Hosea marry a prostitute? Follow me for a minute:
- The Song of Songs is in the Bible as a representation of God’s Love for Israel or The Church.
- Through all the prophets, the theme of Israel or Jerusalem as God’s wife is present.
- In Jeremiah 2, Ezekiel 16, and Ezekiel 23, Israel or Jerusalem is like a harlot. God found her. Nourished her. Took care of her. She cheated on him with foreign nations and foreign gods.
- Prophet Ezekiel, following instructions, gave some hard prophecy about the siege and fall of Jerusalem in Ezekiel 4. Prophet Ezekiel gave hard prophecy in Ezekiel 23. In Ezekiel 24, God takes Ezekiel’s wife.
This is where Hosea comes in. God brought his judgement on Jerusalem. Jerusalem had been an unfaithful wife. God shot her. God has Hosea marry a prostitute as a representation of God’s mercy and grace, a message that God would not totally abandon Israel.
Christian Societies value virgin brides. A Christian is a Jew only through a circumcision of the heart. (Romans 2:29) A Nation like Britain, and the Anglican Church, they could end up destroyed. Wiped out. Genocide. Have recent events seemed to show some signs of the times towards something?
