Ungodly nations and politicians

@BobEstey

How am I judging by saying that being wealthy is wrong but you’re not judging by saying that homosexuality is wrong? Isn’t that hypocrisy?

I just quoted God. Give me the Bible passage that says that being wealthy is wrong.

@BobEstey

Luke 6:**20 **Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:

"Blessed are you poor,
For yours is the kingdom of God.
**21 **Blessed are you who hunger now,
For you shall be filled.[e]
Blessed are you who weep now,
For you shall laugh.
**22 **Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
**23 **Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.

Jesus Pronounces Woes

24 "But woe to you who are rich,
For you have received your consolation.
**25 **Woe to you who are full,
For you shall hunger.
Woe to you who laugh now,
For you shall mourn and weep.
**26 **Woe [f]to you when [g]all men speak well of you,
For so did their fathers to the false prophets.

1 Corinthians 4:**8 **You are already full! You are already rich! You have reigned as kings without us—and indeed I could wish you did reign, that we also might reign with you! **9 **For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle [e]to the world, both to angels and to men. **10 **We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored! **11 **To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. **12 **And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; **13 **being defamed, we [f]entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

Paul’s Paternal Care

**14 **I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you. **15 **For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. **16 **Therefore I urge you, imitate me.

@BobEstey

MATTHEW 6:19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; **20 **but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. **21 **For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The Lamp of the Body

22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is [g]good, your whole body will be full of light. **23 **But if your eye is [h]bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

You Cannot Serve God and Riches

24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and [i]mammon.

1 Timothy 6:**3 **If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the [a]doctrine which accords with godliness, **4 **he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, 5 [b]useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. [c]From such withdraw yourself.

**6 **Now godliness with contentment is great gain. **7 **For we brought nothing into this world, [d]and it is certain we can carry nothing out. **8 **And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. **9 **But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. **10 **For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

The Good Confession

**11 **But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. **12 **Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

James 5:1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! **2 **Your riches [a]are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. **3 **Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days.

Nothing here says it’s evil to be rich. Rich people will have to deal with things that poor people don’t have to deal with. It’s like what the Bible sad about teachers - they will be judged more strictly than others. That doesn’t make it wrong to be a teacher.

Your posts are getting long and hard to read.

@BobEstey my posts are not long. The only long posts were the ones where I posted scripture. And you asked me to post the scripture. I dont understand how you don’t see that being rich is earring from the faith. I dont wish to keep debating. Everything has already been said. Paul and Jesus were not rich and they urge us to imitate and follow them. Ill follow them and you can follow Elon musk and the politicians.

The last two were very long. I am an old man with limited patience.

@BobEstey You asked me to post scripture and when I did you complain that its too long. I added no commentary but only posted the scripture you asked for. Please go and argue with someone else. Everything has already been said

You could give me a verse or two.
