My wife and I have been going to a church for 25 years +/-. I play an instrument and have for 30 years and never really wanted to be on the platform and participate with the worship team. At a bible study we had, we were talking about using talents and gifts for God. I felt very convicted about not using this ability for God. At our church, we have several other musicians that also play this instrument and really don’t have a need for a third person in rotation. We participate in a variety of other ways within the church, however, I feel this is something that God may be calling us to find a location that has a need in this area. We have been praying about it and just haven’t any clear direction. Any Thoughts?
Thank you for sharing this! As the Parable of the Talents (and other passages of scripture) show, I think God always wants us to use our talents for his glory and the good of his kingdom. I think sometimes that will be within the church, but, as you mentioned, there are many other opportunities for ministry. I will pray God would open a door for you to use your gifts and would make it clear to you where you should invest your time and talents.
Hello @j25785 thanks for sharing with the community. I wouldn’t beat yourself up over this. Remember God knows everything about you and he knows your heart. He knows you have this talent, and he knows that if he called you to play you would. So dont be to hard on yourself about it. Now if you wanted to maybe ask the church if you could play or let them know that you have this talent if they dont know. And that if they ever needed you to play, because for some reason the other 2 guys couldnt, you would be willing to step in for them. I will pray that he makes it clear for you to see what it is he is calling you to do.![]()
You felt very convicted and you are praying about it. Wait on the Lord. If your conviction is from Him, something is going to turn up.
