For centuries, Christians have celebrated Jesus’ birth on December 25th, but is this the actual date? While the Bible doesn’t specify a day, early Church traditions, like those of Hippolytus and John Chrysostom, embraced December 25th. Some link it to the symbolic belief that Christ’s conception happened on March 25th, leading to His birth nine months later. Others note it aligned with pagan festivals, possibly chosen to draw focus to Christ as the true light of the world.

Skeptics argue that shepherds wouldn’t have been in the fields during winter, suggesting spring or fall instead. Yet, early Jewish sources indicate year-round grazing near Bethlehem, keeping the December date plausible.

Ultimately, December 25th is less about historical precision and more about honoring the moment God came to dwell among us. Nevertheless, was Jesus really born on December 25 and does it matter?

We know not the day nor the hour.

Unless someone comes out with the exact date in which he was born, humanity will most likely continue with Dec 25th as the date in which he was born because of convenience.

Should convenience be the determining factor?
