Growing up, most nativity scenes show the three wise men arriving the night Jesus was born. But the Bible seems to suggest they came much later. What do you think? How does that shift your picture of the Christmas story, or does it?

The wise men went to Bethlehem when Jesus was approaching two years old, why else did Herod order the killing of all babies under 2 in Bethlehem.
The nativity scene in churches etc is just story telling, compressed for easy of telling it.

They very likely weren’t at the manger. When did they show up, exactly? We don’t know. Probably sometime between a few weeks/months after He was born, to around 2 years after He was born–but the actual answer is we just don’t know. Just like we have no idea how many there were.
