What are some commonalities between Christianity and Islam?

Here are 5 to start off with:

  1. Monotheism: Both Christianity and Islam believe in one God who is sovereign and creator of all things.

  2. Prayer: Prayer is a fundamental practice, emphasizing regular communication with God.

  3. Charity: Both faiths emphasize the importance of giving to help the less fortunate and support the community.

  4. Prophets: Both religions revere prophets, including figures like Abraham and Moses, as messengers of God’s word.

  5. Afterlife: Both believe in an eternal life, where moral choices influence one’s destiny in the hereafter.

What else?

1/ Islams God is remote and unknowable.
Christianit has a Trinity that loves is loved and can know love.
As a result it loves us, desires a relationship with us and is knowable.

2/ prayer in Islam is a ritual reciting of rote prayers. Christianity it is a communion with God.

3/ Islam the giving of alms is part of earning ones salvation.
In Christianity it is an act of compassion and of love for Jesus.

4/ Islam regards Jesus as only a propher, it takes all references to Jesus’s coming as being references to Mohamed.

5/ yes in Islam one earns ones reward through good deeds like killing non muslims.
Christianity teaches that one cannot earn ones salvation, rather it is recieved as a gift from God.

The differences between Islam and Christianity are far greater than any superficially similarities.

Islam spread and still spreads through violence.
Christianity spreads through individuals coming to faith.
