A lot of Christians like this film, but I think it looks very problematic. What do you think of it? My biggest concern is I’ve heard of many very young children who are big into the movie. Even if we strip it of the demon part it’s still suggestive as well. Thoughts?
Haven’t seen it and not likly to, but have one basic criticism of all films, programs, games that involve magic or demon fighting.
They all assume that the power behind magic is neutral, that there is no cost to identifing with what ever powers that magic and that demons are weaker and less intelligent than humans, two things that are not true.
There is only one power that can defeat demons and that is Jesus, not a name wealded as a talisman, but the power that is due to faith.
Most kids are raised in an environment of story telling. For them there is little difference between Jesus, ghosts, space aliens, and demons. For the few that might be aware the demons could be dangerous, they are seen in terms of kung fu or other combat and thus defeated.
The real demonic influence to overcome are all the millions of seductive traps set in the world system that appeal to the flesh to either prevent someone from trusting in Jesus or to sideline those who manage to come to faith.
It would be better to invest a child in learning to discern truth and have a critical eye towards the things of the world.
