To get a better understanding. To peel back the layers to find the heart of God.
A desire to get wisdom, and to get closer to God.

I have read the whole Bible through many times, @ellenvera, and each time, because the experiences God gives me in between, certain passages become more edifying than they were previously. I find such reading of the Bible deeply satisfying.
