Proverbs 15:8-9 tells us, “The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him. The LORD detests the way of the wicked, but he loves those who pursue righteousness.” This verse highlights the importance of living in a way that pleases God by pursuing righteousness and walking in uprightness.
What does pursuing righteousness mean to you? How do we align our hearts and actions with God’s will in our daily lives?
- Integrity: Me being truthful and ethical in both personal and professional relationships, ensuring that my words and actions reflect a strong moral compass. (Proverbs 10:9)
- Justice: Me advocating for fairness and equality, standing up against injustices in society, and working towards a more ‘just’ world. (Micah 6:8)
- Compassion: Me showing empathy and kindness to others, being aware of their struggles, but actively working to support and uplift those in need. (1 Peter 3:8)
- Self-Reflection: Me regularly evaluating my actions and motivations, seeking to understand my weaknesses. Yet, I strive for personal growth and improvement. (2 Corinthians 13:5)
- Forgiveness: Me letting go of grudges and choosing to forgive those who have wronged me, following the example set by Christ. (Ephesians 4:32)
- Humility: Me recognizing my limitations and being open to learning from others, understanding that everyone has value and wisdom to share. (Philippians 2:3-4)
- Peacemaker: Me earnestly seeking to resolve conflicts and promote harmony amongst others and my communities, fostering a safe space of understanding and cooperation. (Matthew 5:9)
- Faith: Making my faith visible through my actions, allowing my beliefs to guide my decisions and relationships, everyday. (James 2:17)
While I know I’m not perfect and will make mistakes, (Romans 3:23) reminds me of God’s grace, providing new opportunities for growth each day I rise. By relying on His strength, I aim to live in a way that pleases Him and serves as a light to those I encounter.
