For some, the idea of being God’s child is a deep comfort—an anchor in storms, a reminder of His love. For others, it can feel abstract, especially if their earthly experiences with parents or family have been painful or distant. Scripture tells us we are adopted into God’s family through Christ, heirs with Him of the Kingdom to come. But how does that change the way we see ourselves right now?
The tension is real: we’re told this relationship is secure and unearned, yet we often feel unworthy, uncertain, or even disconnected from it. Does being a “child of God” come with certain responsibilities? Does it change the way we approach relationships, career decisions, or even the way we see suffering?
And if we are truly His children, how should that shape the way we interact with a world that may not recognize or value that identity?
