When it comes to marriage, what does the Bible say about the roles of husbands and wives? Are these roles meant to be strictly defined, or is there flexibility in how couples live them out? Some see clear distinctions, while others believe in a more equal partnership.
There are all manner of readings you could find just as easily as I can regarding what marriage is (covenant relationship between God, one man and one woman), but not so much the roles, other than the wife being a helpmate. it’s never says anything to what that entails. If anyone knows verses that might refute this, I’d be happy to see them.
Speaking only for my wife and I, my wife and I discuss major decisions. I listen to her counsel, but if it comes to a final decision, I will make it.
