What’s One Small Thing You Thank God for Lately?

Something I’ve been noticing lately is how much gratitude grows in the small things, a quiet moment, a conversation, even something ordinary that suddenly feels like a gift.

What’s one small thing you’ve thanked God for recently?
Nothing big, just something simple that reminded you of His goodness.

wow where to begin… when I was like you free folk I wasn’t grateful enough; after all I worked hard for my stuff. Here in my jail I give sincere thanks for even the smallest thing as I regularly sift through garbage for food and go to bed hungry all the time.
Dear Lord Thank you for…

my used styrofoam cup
my extra socks
my daily coffee shot
my Bible
these forums
my free world comb
the free toothpaste i found in the shower
my broken but working glasses

now see if you’re grateful. it is one thing to see suffering in the streets and on TV but when you lose it all you learn truly to be thankful

The latest thing is silly, but it happened. I live in the North Country. Currently snowing and cold out. I use a wood-burning stove to heat the house rather than spend nearly $400.00 per 100-gallon fill of fuel oil. Which would be like monthly in season. Most of the time, no problem lighting and keeping it going. Last night, it just would not stay lit. I work at it and worked at it, and it kept going out. The house was now between 66 and 59, depending on where you were.

I actually found myself asking God to help me out here. Well, He did, it lit, stayed lit, and kept the house at 73 all through the night, long after it went out during the night.

I woke up and realized this and thanked God very much. I have found that if you do take the time to thank God for the little things, before you realize it, you will rely on God for all things. Your gratitude will grow beyond measure. I now thank God for life to life everlasting and all things in between. Even if they seem “bad” at the time.

“Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit [is], because He makes intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to [His] purpose." Romans 8:27-28
