What Time Do You Eat Thanksgiving Dinner?

I’ve seen these discussions around the internet and was curious what you all had to say about it! :turkey:

We generally have a late afternoon dinner around 3-4pm, depending on when we are finished cooking. We enjoy cinnamon rolls or something fun for breakfast, have snacks/appetizers for a mid-morning snack, and then are ready for an early dinner (and ready for leftovers-or pie–later!

Curious what others do! It seems it’s common to eat Thanksgiving dinner earlier than a regular dinner. And for those of you who eat Thanksgiving dinner at noon or earlier, how do you have everything cooked and ready in time?!

I think the sooner people eat the better. The longer it takes the more hangry we get haha

in prison we eat at 12 then sack lunch at 3 :man_gesturing_ok:

Hello DaughterOfEve24. Yeah, we are about the same. When we are done cooking, usually around 2 or 3 pm. This may not sound all that Christian of me, but it is better to be earlier, so yes, we can have dessert and also, family who visit can depart, uh, before it gets too dark.

We’re pretty flexible, but we usually end up eating somewhere around 3pm too. It just seems to be that magical window where the turkey is finally done, the sides are ready, and everyone is hungry but not yet impatient.

I’ve always wondered how the noon-dinner people pull it off too! Unless they start cooking in the middle of the night! I’m impressed whenever I hear someone say they eat that early.

For us it’s breakfast, a little grazing throughout the morning, and then the “official” meal in the afternoon… followed by the inevitable pie round a few hours later. It’s not fancy, but it works for our crew.
