  1. Acknowledge God’s Sovereign Direction: Recognize that God is the ultimate gatekeeper who opens and shuts doors (Revelation 3:7). Rather than panicking over choices, trust that He directs the steps of those who seek Him (Proverbs 3:5-6).
  2. Test the Doors Against His Word: A true open door from God will never contradict His moral law, His character, or the principles revealed in Scripture.
  3. Seek Wise Counsel: Do not rely solely on your own understanding or emotional pressure. Bring the choices before mature, spiritually grounded advisors or mentors to help test and confirm the direction (Proverbs 11:14, 15:22).
  4. Look for Peace and Fruit: God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). Look for the path that is accompanied by inner peace (Philippians 4:6–7) and aligns with the spiritual gifts and passions He has placed inside you .
  5. Take a Step in Faith: Sometimes God does not reveal the entire map until you begin to move. Commit your plans to Him, take a step of faith, and trust that His grace will either close the wrong door or sustain you in the right one (Proverbs 16:3 ).

First, welcome @faithHono7. Glad you are here. Appreciate this outline. Point #2 is particularly important: an opportunity isn’t automatically a divine ‘open door’ just because it’s available. It has to align with God’s character and Word. Good wisdom on balancing active movement with trusted counsel.

If you do not mind, let’s keep the conversation going a bit. How do you usually navigate situations where an opportunity seems good on paper, but that inner peace isn’t there yet?"

Well said. It reminds me of a testimony that I heard from a pastor/teacher named Brad McClendon on youtube. He iirc, he said he was taken up in spirit to heaven but he found himself alone and all there was there was a door. So he walked through it. He had his visit to heaven and got showed around and so forth, but he didn’t get to see Jesus. So after he is back in his body, he prays and says where were you Lord? I wanted to see you there. And Jesus answered him and said, You missed me…Can you imagine missing your visitation?!! He said he said to the Lord, but Lord where you that I missed you?

And the Lord told him, you walked right through me and didn’t even look, I was the door! (That’s scripture too!)

He asked the Lord for another chance and the Lord said yes. He missed his visitation with Jesus! I bet he made a Homer Simpson DOH !!
