The scribe and priest Ezra lived during a pivotal time in Israel’s history, when the Israelites were allowed a remnant to return to Jerusalem from captivity in Babylon. Ezra had a passion for God’s Word and for restoring the Temple.
Even though he lived centuries before even Christ came to Earth, I think there is so much we can learn from him and from this period in history. Ezra’s story reminds us that God always keeps a remnant and that he is always working even when all around us is darkness and ungodliness.
What is most significant to you about Ezra’s story?

For me it was Artexerxes. I’m sure I spelled that wrong lol. That not only did he allow Ezra to return to rebuild but that he financed it, supplied all the materials, and not the cheap stuff but the very best, as well as a military escort! All I see is God’s hand in it! In everything! That God does move mountains and that God makes ways, and changes hearts, and provides and so so much more than is asked for, or even imagined! The power of prayer and faith is on full display..and God reveals Himself so…beautifully.
And..”Thus, while the specific story of Ezra and Artaxerxes is not preserved in Persian archives, the historical reliability of the biblical narrative is affirmed by its consistency with Persian administrative practices and corroborating archaeological and textual evidence.” That was from a quick search I did. I like looking into “historical” evidence of biblical stories and always find confirmations of what I’m reading. Of course it could be argued..but I rely on faith and the word of God. But..it’s still interesting if you’re into history
Yup..I spelled it wrong lol
