why bad things happen to good people

Good morning friends and family. Lets talk on why bad things happen to good people and how do we keep faith when u know your heart and you know your good allways have did better then bad but always ends up in a bad spot in life who do you turn to at this point when u feel like prayers dont get anwser or maybe not when u need or want them to be

2Ti 3:10 Now you have diligently followed [my example, that is] my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness,
2Ti 3:11 persecutions, and sufferings–such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, but the Lord rescued me from them all! [2Co_12:10]
2Ti 3:12 Indeed, all who delight in pursuing righteousness and are determined to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be hunted and persecuted [because of their faith].
2Ti 3:13 But evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
2Ti 3:14 But as for you, continue in the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced [holding tightly to the truths], knowing from whom you learned them,
2Ti 3:15 and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings (Hebrew Scriptures) which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus [surrendering your entire self to Him and having absolute confidence in His wisdom, power and goodness].
2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately–behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage];
2Ti 3:17 so that the N1man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Rom_3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

We may not be as “good” as we imagine.

God curse the earth after Adam and Eve sinned for our benefit because when we act apart from God, our natural selfishness causes us to harm ourselves and each other. This curse was insufficient to keep us from having every imagination of the heart only evil continuously.

After the flood God limited our life span to 120 years with diseases and genetic changes. We also have environmental difficulties like winter and drought. This was sufficient to cause us to need each other and even have an interest in God. When life started to get easier and even comfortable with the Industrial Revolution, humans began to get worse again. The idea that God controls everything that happens to us begins to make God responsible for evil. We should see that there is a degree of randomness in life that allows difficulties. There is also the evil that people do and the design of Satan to have the world appeal to selfishness.

Given all this, encountering difficulties (bad things) should be expected. We should avoid thinking that a loving God would make us comfortable and prosperous.

Quotes like this always have behind them the idea that I don’t deserve to suffer in this way!

The problem with such an idea is that it is completely untrue.

The honest truth is that we do not deserve to receive good things!

The apostle Paul had a really impressive list of qualities that should have entitled him to receive good things from God, yet he described those qualities as shit.

Challenge. List One thing that you have done that entitles you to Gods favour?

romans 3:**23 **For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

It is Gods grace and mercy that gives us good things, things we do not deserve.

I love this topic as a matter of fact, this is sort of what I’m going through. I’ve always had the same written down on a postcard when you don’t get what you want that’s God‘s protection and I find myself going through stuff not necessarily bad things happening to me, but bad things happen around me to the ones that I Love and I care about causing me to suffer as well. I’m faithful in God‘s word I don’t walk a straight line, but I’m faithful and I know that I would be nowhere and I’m nothing without God. I also know that God doesn’t play about me and when I pray, he answers my prayers a lot of times may not understanding that my prayers that he is answering is some of the reason why I’m suffering I recently prayed to God what did I do to deserve this? What did I do to have to go through this, and then God unfolded the truth a truth that if I would not have seen, it would’ve crushed me even more in the long run so it’s not necessarily that we do good and we are punished a lot of the times it’s that God‘s protecting us even though it hurts now it would hurt a lot more if it were prolonged to be revealed. And I know it’s terrible to sit back and watch people that constantly do evil. We think they get rewarded for it but really they don’t. They are living in a prison in their own mind. That’s what evil is evil is miserable. It’s a prison within themselves. They have to put off to look like they’re living the best life, but in reality, they’re not we all know evil is evil and evil is misery.

Good morning friend! Welcome to the Crosswalk Forum!

Matthew 5

“10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you,persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. **12 **Rejoice and be (exceedingly) glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

It may be that the “bad” things that are happening to “good people” are intended to increase their opportunity for eternal honor from God Himself. Eternal honor. Maybe it’s important to maintain the same attitude of the love of Christ through every challenge, and not despise God’s purpose in allowing it.

Don’t worry if you’ve already failed - you’ll likely have plenty of opportunities to stay faithfully true to Jesus through difficult circumstances. That’s why we all need this family!

You may find that the prayer for strength and guidance through every circumstance gets answered more often than the prayer for God to fix your circumstances. Remember that it’s for your eternal good!

Hello @Rabbit318 I think everyone has pretty much covered it here. However, be careful of calling humans or yourself good.

“And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [There is] none good but one, [that is], God.” Mark 10:17-18

If Jesus Himself did not wish to be called good, what chance do we have? Bad things happen. As we see them. God may be correcting us. The devil may be whispering in our ears, or we just mess up out of our own desires.

The world is messy. It is evil. It is rung by the devil himself. So why should we ever be surprised when bad things happen? However, always remember,

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
