Hey good morning friends and family i need help with my thoughts and prayer i pray day after day night after night and still waiting on something to happen i been praying all my life and yet have i had god talk back to me i hear people say all the time god said this and that but why he never talk to me or do that make me seems like i dont believe or have faith or am i the only one feel this way at times and one thing i do understand i get my blessing everyday i wake up cause a lot of people dont even get that so i do believe in something i hate to feel this way i just need help on the right path with awnsers
First, the Bible never teaches that God normally speaks to His people through audible voices or constant inner sentences, but that He speaks primarily through His Word by the Holy Spirit. âLong ago God spoke to our fathers by the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Sonâ ~Hebrews 1:1â2, meaning Godâs clearest and normative speech is Christ revealed in Scripture, not private voices.
Many faithful believers in Scripture cried out and heard no immediate reply. David prayed, âO my God, I cry out by day, but You do not answer, and by night, but I have no restâ ~Psalm 22:2, yet this same psalm becomes fulfilled in Christ on the cross, showing silence does not equal absence. Job said, âBehold, I go forward, but He is not there, and backward, but I cannot perceive Himâ ~Job 23:8â9, yet God later affirms Jobâs faith as genuine.
Jesus Himself addressed this kind of waiting when He said, âAsk, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to youâ ~Matthew 7:7, where the Greek verbs αÎčÏΔáżÏΔ, ζηÏΔáżÏΔ, ÎșÏÎżÏΔÏΔ are present tense, meaning keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking, not once, but persistently, without assuming silence is rejection.
God promises that His Spirit works quietly, deeply, and often invisibly. âThe Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of Godâ ~Romans 8:16, not through loud speech, but through inner assurance, conviction, endurance, and trust. Elijah expected God in dramatic signs, but Scripture says, âAnd after the fire came a sound of a gentle whisperâ ~1 Kings 19:12, showing God often speaks beneath our expectations, not above them.
Your recognition that waking up each day is a gift already reflects biblical wisdom. âThe loving devotion of the LORD indeed never ceases, for His compassions never fail; they are new every morningâ ~Lamentations 3:22â23, which means God is already answering prayers for life, breath, patience, and preservation, even when no voice is heard.
Faith is not measured by hearing God speak audibly, but by trusting Him when He seems silent. âBlessed are those who have not seen and yet have believedâ ~John 20:29, and âWe walk by faith, not by sightâ ~2 Corinthians 5:7. Silence in Scripture is often a training ground for deeper trust, not a sign of abandonment.
The right path is not trying harder to hear a voice, but anchoring yourself in what God has already spoken. Read Scripture slowly, pray honestly, obey what you already know, and trust that God hears you even when you do not feel Him. âThe LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truthâ ~Psalm 145:18.
You are not failing God. You are walking the same road many saints have walked. Keep praying, keep trusting, keep holding fast to Christ, because âHe who promised is faithfulâ ~Hebrews 10:23.
Shalom.

Hello @Rabbit318
I do not know what it is you have been praying for. That is between you and God; however, in general, perhaps I can answer your question.
We have read it. We have claimed it. We want to believe it. God answers all prayers. We love passages like these.
âAsk, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.â Matthew 7:7
We love this one as well
âTherefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.â Mark 11:24
What about this one???
âIf you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.â John 15:7
So we go before God, believing in and claiming these passages. We say Prayers like this.
Lord, I want that new Red Sports Car. Or, better yet, just let me hit the Lotto, and then I can buy it myself. Then I promise I will do some good with the money too. What? Hey, your Word says, âwhatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be mine.â So come on God**, âask whatever you wish, and it will be done for meâ** SO??? Where is my big pile of money?
The problem is not, He doesnât answer. The problem is how we receive it. Do we like it? Is it what we expected? Is it what we wanted? Or, do we miss it? Yes, sometimes, the answer is even, âNo.â You see, He does answer. Always. But what that answer is, is not always what we think it should be.
Brother Bobâs vehicle breaks down. He cannot afford to keep fixing it. But he needs a vehicle to continue to go to work. So he prays to God for it. Now, in his mind, Bob is going through all those new models out there, the Honda Accord. The Mustang, hey, He is God, All things are possible in him. Right? How about a new Chevrolet Corvette? He gets excited because he really has ZERO doubt in his heart that God will hear his prayer and will give him a new Car.
So he goes to Church and talks with the Pastor. The Pastor announces Bobâs need to the congregation right before prayer. At the end of the service, Old Farmer Joe comes to Bob and says, âI have a car for ya. Not all that pretty anymore, but she runs like a top, and she has never let me down.â So Bob agrees and goes to Joeâs farm. They go to a barn in the back, and Joe opens the door and pulls off the cover, exposing a 1968 Chevy Cadillac. Dull. A few dents. A little spot of rust here and there. Bob looks at it and thinks to himself, âWhat a piece of junk. Not to mention the thing is a boat. I donât want this. Where is my Mustang or Corvette? I need a car, not a Boat.â God answered His prayer. He just didnât like the answer.
You see, God is in the past. He is in the present. He is in the future. God is everywhere, at every time. God is omnipotent. He created time and space; therefore, He moves freely through it. He knows what lies ahead because he is already there. We are not. We are fleeting. The Word declares Human Life is but a Vapor. Here one moment and gone the next. James 4:14 We do not see what is before us. We do not know what awaits us. But God does.
I do not have to guess at the ending of a movie, or I will be surprised at the plot twists, if I saw the movie. If you have not, I could tell you all there is to know about it before you see it, because I already have. God has already seen the movie that is YOU. He knows what is going to happen. We do not.
Yes, God answers all Prayers. Sometimes the answer is âNo.â Sometimes the answer is âNoâ for our own good. As we tell our kids, No, to touching the hot stove, or playing in traffic, God tells us âNoâ to protect us from ourselves. Sometimes the answer is âNoâ for His own good, and to further His Will, Way, and Plan for our Lives. Sometimes God says âNoâ for His Kingdomâs sake, and even for others. We do not know why God answers the way He does. We must trust in Him to know better than us, for us. We must take comfort in the knowledge that we may not always get what we want, but we will ALWAYS get what we need.
I think I went on a bit of a tangent; however, I hope this helps.
Peter
