Why is Enoc not allowed in the Bible?

So the book of Enoc, is not found in all translations of the bible, in fact, it is found in very few I heard because it is considered as “controversial” because of it’s content. Upon research I learned it contains talking about the origin of evil spirits, demons, and also contains information such as the moral reasons of the flood and the giants roaming the earth, the spirit stuck.

The reason I ask is because in learning deliverance, shouldn’t we know the origins of these demons, and how they manifest, and act, in order to help counter them and thus won’t it be a helpful part of the bible?I I asked a few leaders of my church and getting mixed answers.

Hey there Brandon,

I too have read the Book of Enoch and your question is an interesting one.

Fortunately for us, Christianity.com has an article on this topic that should prove helpful in answering the question:
What Is the Book of Enoch and Should it be in the Bible?

Best Regards,

Fritz

I also heard it was because of the Catholic Church via The Vatican.

That’s where I first read the book, in a Catholic Bible. But there are some other rather interesting books in the Catholic Bible that are not in our protestant versions.

In my opinion, the Book of Enoch is a fictional story that includes a faith element… it is similar to our modern day books by Frank Peretti (think “This Present Darkness”). Interesting and fun reads with some spiritual aspects to them but they shouldn’t be considered canon.

It’s true if a book is NOT considered “canon”, we should be careful NOT to rely on it totally or as much as we rely on the words of Jesus daily. (Just keep them as other helpful books in this world: but keep a perspective that they are NOT the words of Jesus.) But I also agree that such books can be very helpful in certain topics, especially if you are studying deliverance.
One thing in deliverance I try to remind myself NOT-to get away also, is: Philippians 4: 8-9 (basically “think upon these things more than the others”). I consider the Apostle Paul being a good example of how we should walk, in whatever ministry we are in.
And Jesus said (Matt 10: 24) “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master.” So we know FIRST OF ALL: we should try to be more like Jesus. Then we won’t fall into a “rabbit hole” in the wrong way. As long as we keep that in mind, asking Jesus to do His work through us, we will be fruitful through the work of our hands, no matter what ministry, deliverance, or another.
I know most Christians don’t learn enough in deliverance to prevent themselves from falling into temptations or other problems; and some may be fearful of such topics due to either unbelief or misunderstandings. So I applaud you for efforts in this area.
May God bless and keep you…

Thank you for sharing!

The authority over demons does not depend on their origins or the regions they are assigned. The authority exists in the name of Jesus (Jeshua) the messiah, Son of God. And according to John 1, fully God. But demons are not stupid, evil-yes but not stupid. They know when someone does not believe in the person of Christ. That is why it can be a struggle to make them leave.

Hi Brandon,
Long time no “see” (or haven’t heard from you :)) How are you doing recently?

I just wanted to make sure that you know you have our SUPPORT in learning the ministries of Jesus, as well as some precautions (as follows); we will pray for you and others as we all learn in this life and go through the trials & hardships that make our faith more pure and precious!

One thing in deliverance I try to remind myself also, is: Philippians 4: 8-9 (basically says: “think upon" those pure & holy things MORE than the other things (eg. demonic or worldly things), BECAUSE THINKING about godly things will get us get “grounded” better on our focus (& faith). • In Christ Jesus our Lord.

That book is considered to be “extra-biblical”, meaning outside the books that are considered canonical. Such books can be helpful in obtaining valuable historical information, and oftentimes will confirm what is in our bibles. However, there is some information that is way off base. There is for example (on Amazon) a book titled "The Epistle of Mary (Miriam). I would consider that one dangerous and perhaps heretical.
