I think the holidays are on a lot of minds right now, but I recently realized that this coming winter (2026) is a winter olympics year! Usually it seems I hear more about the upcoming olympics when they’re only a couple months away, but I’ll be glad to have something exciting to watch in the part of winter that often feels the longest.
Did you know the olympics were happening this winter? What olympic event are you most excited to watch? I love the figure skating, but find almost any sport interesting. Except curling. Someone tell me how to find that interesting because I try every olympic games and quickly lose interest haha!
I’m excited for alpine skiing, the slalom especially. It’s such a mix of power and precision, and every tiny movement counts. Those skiers make threading through gates at 80mph look easy.
And curling… honestly, I kind of love how intense it gets. The yelling! The sweeping! It’s like housework meets high strategy. I might not always follow what’s happening, but I admire the focus.
I do love watching the March Madness tournament, so I like basketball. Just haven’t gotten into it with the Olympics. I think it may be part of the Summer Olympics, though!
