Today’s Your Daily Prayer devotional (10/23/2025), A Prayer to Not Be Fearful of Death, brings up something many of us feel but don’t always speak about - our fear of death and the grief that lingers long after a loved one passes. I was especially moved by the writer’s honesty about how loss shakes our sense of safety. It’s something I’ve wrestled with too, especially as I’ve grown older and experienced more goodbyes.

But what brings me comfort (and what the devotional reminds us so well) is the unshakable promise of Isaiah 41:10. “Fear not, for I am with you.” Not might be or sometimes is, but I am. God’s presence isn’t limited by hospital walls, funeral homes, or gravesides. He walks with us through every valley, even the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23:4).

The distinction the writer makes between earthly separation and heavenly reunion is important. We do grieve, but not as those without hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13). Our hope is anchored not in sentiment, but in Christ’s victory over death. Because of the cross and resurrection, death is no longer the end. It’s the doorway to life eternal with Jesus and with all who are in Him.

Yes, this world is frightening at times. And yes, it hurts to lose those we love. But we are not alone, and we are not without a future. What did y’all think?

I have been reading from the iBelieve Daily Prayer for, probably 2± years and really enjoy it. This mornings reading, A Prayer to Trust in Christ’s Victory Over Evil, is helpful, as many of the readings are. I can relate to the lady in the article, as I can not watch or read anything that is scary or disturbing, especially before I go to bed! But my most recent issue is over a loss of two rings that were very special to me; one was left to me by my step-mother and the other my husband bought for me! I have my suspicions as to where they went and have asked for forgivness for thinking it. We recently moved from one city to another. We were renting and now living with our daughter and her partner in a house! It has, and continues to be a huge transition for us, especially, my husband. My rings, disappeared about a week before we moved. They are GONE! I have tried not to let it bother me, as they are just material things, but sometimes I wake up in the night (as I did last night) and I can’t seem to get it off my mind! I have prayed about it but it still sometimes keepes me awake. I keep telling myself exactly that. I know it seems trivial, but I hope you will pray that I can totally accept the fact that they are gone and that wherever they are, someone will get some enjoyment from them. And please be praying for my husband, as he is having some issues, from our move. Blessings!

On today’s devotional- A Prayer to Be Inspired by Awe Around the World - Your Daily Prayer - October 28

What a beautiful reminder that God’s glory is not limited to grand sights or faraway places. His wonders are everywhere, even in the quiet fields and forests near home. Psalm 65:8 is such a comforting verse. I’m grateful for how this devotional points us back to the Creator, not just the creation. It’s easy to get caught up in our daily routines, but taking time to notice His handiwork.

Thank you for the encouragement to slow down and see with spiritual eyes.

I’m grateful for this wonderful reminder that we as God’s children are invited to rest in His peace & love. I have experienced busyness for decades, career, church, ministry, education, family, relationships, etc. I didn’t realize I was trying to keep up with the world’s pace, but God’s grace kept me in each season. After I retired and going through seasons of transition where I was taking off many hats I was wearing, God revealed He was calling me to rest! The scripture that lead me into this rest comes from Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Ever since I have taken on Jesus’ yoke and learning from Him. Jesus yoke is easy and His burdens are light and not based on “productivity & performance.” Thank you for this blessed devotion & prayer Blessings & rest to all🙏🏾

Today’s devotional really met me where I was. I’ve been carrying some burdens lately (more emotional than physical), but the reminder from Matthew 11:28-30 that Jesus invites us to come to Him as we are and promises rest

I’m trying to practice handing things over to Him more quickly instead of suffering in silence.

Did anyone else read or listen to Your Daily Prayer this morning?

Today’s reading said love is a choice. That hit me in many ways, but I would like your thoughts on this … I am going through a difficult time right now with someone that hurt my daughter. My daughter is alive today only because of the Lord’s protection on the day of the attack. I trusted this man, opened our home to him. I genuinely saw him as my son. We developed a mother/son relationship, I believed was genuine. He hurt my daughter and if love is a choice, why when I choose not to love him I can’t stop loving him as my son, worrying about him, when I know he hurt my daughter. I know what scripture says about love and forgiveness but….

A Prayer for Contentment in All Circumstances -

The prayer emphasizes the importance of asking God to help me be content in all circumstances. Jesus is my all in all; the best thing for me in this world, and I am rich truly rich in Him.

God is using this message to remind me that when I abide in Him and He abides in me, contentment in Him is what I experience. When I am content in Christ, I am living by His Spirit and not the lust of my flesh.

Thank you Lord for leading and guiding me by your Spirit:folded_hands:t5::heart:

Thank you for this timely prayer. Grief has a strange way of surfacing unresolved issues especially during the holiday season. I’m grateful for my relationship with God where I can cast all my cares & concerns upon Him. Over the last several weeks these ill feelings have been trying to creep in, but thanks be to God who hears my prayers and heals my broken heart. With the help of Holy Spirit, those unresolved issues and ill feelings are replaced with God’s peace and joy. Truly the joy of the Lord is our strength! We cannot change people and/or resolve every issue, but by God’s grace and unfailing love, He lifts our burdens and fill our voids with His love & peace. Only by His grace can we look beyond faults and love one another, one day at a time:folded_hands:t5::heart:

Praying God’s healing, peace, & restoration for your family. When I experienced a betrayal that devastated our family, the Lord revealed that I had to forgive the persons involved in this betrayal. Forgiveness didn’t mean I had to ignore the hurt I was experiencing. It meant I had to willingly forgive inspite of the hurt. The scripture that came to mind was Jesus on the cross and he said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing.” Whew!!! That was hard for me to process because I believed the terrible act was intentional. However, the Lord revealed he was teaching me what unconditional love looks like so that when I choose to forgive, He can use me to help others who may experience similar pain. I have forgiven the persons involved by God’s grace and command; “forgive others as He has forgiven us.” Lastly, forgiveness doesn’t mean we are to not apply godly wisdom as we move forward in our healing & relationship🙏🏾

always hold on tightly to hope and loosely to bitterness.

This phrase is powerful! Thank you for it!

HOPE: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

HEALING: He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

RESTORATION: I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

My hope comes when I put my faith in God. My prayer is that God will strengthen my faith when my faith is weak.
Amen.
