Ok..whew. Thank you. It just seemed that..lol..I don’t know. I felt that regardless of the arguments put forth, and that one verse from Revelation, was alluding to eternity not being eternity.

This is why I’m very wary of podcasts and social media. I do.follow certain pastors online, every now and then watching an entire episode, not just a reel, and if what they’re saying doesn’t “feel” right, I go to scripture. If I don’t understand what I’m reading, I use my study version Bible, and my concordance..and then I come here to pester you and a few others who I find reliable. How do I decide if you, or the others are reliable? Because you use direct quotes from scripture. You (plural) make it understandable and applicable, and leave no room for compromise. If God said it it’s in the Bible and it’s truth.

Please..don’t debate over my simple musings. You (plural) are not “leading me astray” or heretics. You (plural) use DIRECT scriptural passages and explanations that I can look up in the study materials I have, physically on hand.

If someone here says something that doesn’t “feel” right and I can’t find the answers in scripture then I pray on it. Who else would I turn to when nothing makes sense, other than God? He’s actually my first go-to but He does tend to be cryptic..yes? Lol

I love God. I truly love God.

God bless you (plural)

Truly, sister @Joanne.1966, I rejoice to see your fervent love for our Lord Jesus Christ, for it is written, “the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us” (Romans 5:5). You walk as one sealed by the Spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13), anointed with His unction (1 John 2:20), and discerning through the Spirit who “searches all things, even the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10). Indeed, your cup runs over as the psalmist declared, “My cup overflows” (Psalm 23:5), for His presence fills and sustains you.

You are a blessing to many on this forum.

Please send me links to podcasts you trust. As I’ve said I want to learn, I’m just very skeptical of many podcasts and social media.

Thank you again.

Testing by the Scriptures is measuring all teaching, spirits and claims by the revealed Word of God. Scripture itself gives the definition. Paul exhorts us, “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” ~1 Thessalonians 5: 21 and John writes, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God” ~1 John 4:1. The list of Greek words you provided all point to one reality, the requirement to examine and discern truth by God’s Word, not human reason or emotion. True testing is not an exercise of cleverness with words, it is an act of obedience to the Word and dependence upon the Holy Spirit who “guides you into all truth” ~John 16:13. The Bible never separates discernment from submission. The Spirit witnesses to truth through the Word He inspired, not through some subjective experience or intellectual discourse. “The Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword” ~Hebrews 4: 12 and He alone uncovers what is true or false. To test by Scripture is to let Scripture be the judge of all things. It is to bring every thought and doctrine into captivity to the obedience of Christ ~2 Corinthians 10:5. Whatever will not stand in full harmony with the written Word must be rejected, for “thy word is truth” ~John 17:17.

You’re right to study and study hard, but we also have to be on guard. For it is the “evil men and seducers” who “shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived” ~2 Timothy 3:13. It’s not only ignorance we have to guard against, but perversion as well. In fact, far more people pervert the Scriptures “unto their own destruction” ~2 Peter 3: 16, reshaping truth to fit their comfort instead of letting truth shape them. Truth is being reshaped to fit people instead of people being conformed to Truth, and that’s why Paul exhorted Timothy to “Hold fast the form of sound words” ~2 Timothy 1:13.

Study, even hard study is good and commanded, but we come to discernment only when we allow Scripture to interpret Scripture, not when we make Scripture align with us. “Every word of God is pure” ~Proverbs 30: 5 and His Word is not going to be molded or shaped to suit culture, comfort, or personal preference. For this reason, we are commanded to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” ~Jude 1: 3, against any teaching or doctrine which adds to or detracts from what God has already said.

So, if I understand you correctly, you have no issue with me studying the Scriptures, not just word studies, but the syntax, morphology, and grammar, is that right, @bdavidc?

Hello JennyLynne. I believe that Johann sufficiently answered the question. I also understand that many will see this as unfair or exclusive. It is actually quite the opposite. God created man. Man sinned against God. God wiped out nearly all mankind, save Noah, his wife, three sons, and their wives. Man continued to sin, and their hearts were continually evil.

Therefore, there was no other option. John 3:16. Simply put, anyone, no matter who, what, where, when, or how, can come and hear the truth. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one goes to the Father but by Him. This is not exclusive. But all inclusive.

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” {2 Peter 3:9}

The next time that someone comes to you and says that Christianity is close-minded, and too exclusive, or say something to the effect that “They have been saying Jesus is coming back for hundreds of years,” quote them this**.“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”**

This is how patient God is. He is hoping that His creation turns back to Him. As many as possible. However, Jesus IS the only way to get there. If there were another way, He would have died in vain.

I understand what you’re saying. It’s difficult for us, who have such a brief span of time here, to understand forever. We live by clocks and calendars, God doesn’t. He is the Alpha and the Omega. When He says something is forever, it is forever.

In ~Matthew 25: 46, when Jesus spoke of some going away into everlasting punishment and others into everlasting life, He used the same word for both - aiōnios. It indicates that both are without end. If heaven is forever, so is hell. It’s not because God is mean, but because His holiness is perfect and His justice is complete.

The good news is this, this same eternal God provided a way for us to have eternal life instead of eternal judgment. “He that hears My word and believes on Him that sent Me has everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation” ~John 5:24. Jesus took the eternal punishment that we deserve.

Yes, eternity is forever. But grace means that we need not fear it. When you are in Christ, forever is your friend, not your sentence.

Spiritual warfare is kind of like locking your front door when you go to bed at night. It’s not because you’re afraid; it’s because you’re practical about who you let into your house. Same for the heart. You’re closing your heart with the truth of God’s Word and that’s exactly what He is telling us to do. “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Proverbs 4:23).

When you hear something online that doesn’t “feel right” and you immediately go to Scripture, that’s the Holy Spirit training your spiritual reflexes. That’s what the Bereans did in Acts 17:11. They didn’t just nod along; they opened their Bibles and checked, “Is this what God really said?” That’s how discernment grows, by practice and prayer.

The devil doesn’t usually rap on your door looking like the devil. He sounds spiritual, quotes verses, grins wide, and if you’re not anchored in the Word, you’ll think it’s truth. But you’ve already learned the key: if it doesn’t line up with Scripture, it doesn’t line up with God. Period.

So keep doing what you’re doing. Keep praying first, testing everything, and letting the Spirit lead you through the Word. Jesus said the Holy Spirit will “teach you all things” (John 14:26).

I’m noticing a pattern in your questions, they seem less about learning what Scripture says and more about challenging what it clearly means. There’s a big difference between honest study and trying to reframe God’s Word through human reasoning.

Paul tells us about this, “shun foolish questions… for they are unprofitable and vain” (Titus 3:9). The problem is not in studying Greek or grammar. The problem is using it to dilute what God has clearly already spoken.

Truth does not need to be redefined, it needs to be received. “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him” (Proverbs 30:5).

There’s nothing wrong with studying the text deeply, word studies, syntax, and grammar are all good tools. But tools are only helpful if they serve the truth that’s already there, not twist it into something else. The danger comes when study becomes a way to explain away what God has clearly said.

Paul warned about this very thing: “O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,”” (1 Timothy 6:20) God doesn’t need human analysis to make His Word relevant, His Word is already living and active (Hebrews 4:12). The same Spirit who inspired Scripture gives understanding to those who approach it with humility, not to those trying to reshape it.

Yes, study the Word, but don’t use outside systems, history, or traditions to soften what God has spoken plainly. Let Scripture interpret Scripture. When God says something, our job isn’t to edit it or “balance it out,” but to believe it, proclaim it, and live it. “Let God be true, but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4).

@bdavidc

Please keep your cutting advice for someone else, for you have wounded a brother deeply by rhema theou (the word of God) used not as therapeuō (to heal) but as traumatizō (to wound). The Scripture warns, “The sword of the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:17) is meant to pierce the heart unto repentance, not to destroy the soul of a brother. It is written, “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up, that it may give grace to those who hear” (Ephesians 4:29).

As for your remarks about how I study, I care little for intellectual boasting, for knowledge (gnōsis) puffs up, but love (agapē) builds up (1 Corinthians 8:1). This is not a matter of accumulating scriptural data, but of living (peripateō) in the Spirit’s sphere and walking (akoloutheō) in obedience to the commands of Christ. The Lord Himself said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15), and again, “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things I say?” (Luke 6:46).

So, if you are as zealous for Sola Scriptura as you claim, then anaginōske en to contextō, read in the context, the very verses you keep isolating. For the Word must be “rightly divided” (orthotomounta ton logon tēs alētheias, 2 Timothy 2:15), not twisted (strebloō) to one’s own purpose (2 Peter 3:16).

J.

Let’s get one thing straight, you’re the one who started this conversation. You asked me the questions, and I answered straight from Scripture. Now that the truth doesn’t suit you, you’re trying to play the victim. That’s manipulation, not humility.

I’ve already said if there were an “ignore” button, I’d have used it by now, because this stopped being about honest discussion a long time ago. You keep twisting words, turning correction into cruelty, and pretending to be wounded when you’re the one stirring the pot. That’s not discernment, that’s pride.

The Bible is clear: “Avoid foolish questions and strivings, knowing they produce quarrels” (2 Timothy 2:23). I’m not falling for the guilt trip or the self-pity act. The Word of God cuts because it’s supposed to. “The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12). Conviction hurts before it heals.

You wanted a biblical answer, you got one. If that offends you, that’s between you and God. I’m not here to argue, defend myself, or babysit drama. “Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition” (Titus 3:10).

So let’s be done. I’m standing on Scripture, not feelings, not philosophy, not pity.

…..but the greatest of these is Love.(2 Corinthians 13:13)

In the name of Jesus I rebuke this religious spirit!

My brothers, My walk with Christ was laughable until I was completely destroyed and dropped in hell. Because of where I am I have to fight satan day and night non-stop. i have helped 11 rapists/muderers/gangsters find their way to the cross in here not because of my knowledge of scripture but because I looked at them through the lens of the holy spirit which is love. I urge you to filter all your words through that lens. their are babes present and you have hurt one of them.

God did not create Islam, Hinduism, buhdism etc etc etc.

The bible shows very simple in the old Testament that God was to be worshipped in accordance with the rules found in the old Testament and Jesus fulfilled the old Testament laws and taught that we can only get to God through faith in him.
