“The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply because
they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.”

— J.M. Barrie, The Little White Bird

Note: Just seeing a bird flying reminds me to always have faith, or fall. :dove:

“Never be cruel, never be cowardly. And never ever eat pears! Remember – hate is always foolish…and love, is always wise. Always try, to be nice, and never fail to be kind.” 12th Doctor, Doctor Who.

I hate pears too.

“A lot is said about dialogue nowadays. But men are less gifted in this respect than women. They generally confuse it with argument. The aim in argument, even in formal debate, is to defeat one’s opponent. True dialogue seeks to understand him. Solutions are found only when both sides feel they are being understood. Anything else is only a pause while awaiting an opportunity for revenge.”

No one can develop freely in this world and find a full life without feeling understood by at least one person.

Paul Tournier

John Paton was making a translation of the Scriptures into the language spoken in the country where he was a missionary. He searched long for the word ‘believe’, but the natives had no word for believe. One day while he was working on his translation, a native came into the room and being exhausted, he flung himself into a chair and place his feet on the chair opposite him. The native remarked how good it was to lean his whole weight into that chair. Dr. Paton noted the word he used for ‘lean his whole weight’. He now had his word for believe.

@Johann

Xactly!

Have you read “To understand each other” by Tournier? This book really meant alot to me when I read it, at a time of severe crisis in my life. Dr. Tourier was a comfort to me, and I recieved indirect counseling from him via his writings. This book is the second one of his that I read, right after “The meaning of Persons”.

Thanks for the add.

I haven’t read either of those books yet, but they sound very meaningful. I would really appreciate a PDF if you have one and don’t mind sharing brother, as I am going through a crisis at the moment.

I just added Tyndale to my software, and it feels like I’m seeing the Bible completely anew and fresh.

Our Lord Jesus Christ is so good.

PS. I’m learning from you KP and keep up the good work.

Shalom.

@Johann
So sorry to hear of your personal crisis. Praying our Father will send you His divine relief, as only He can.

I don’t think Tournier’s work is in the public domain, even though he died 30 years ago. That said, I know of no legitimate PDF publications of his work. His books were popular enough to still find them in the used book market. Like most authors he has both harsh critics and stout supporters. I read him as I read most books, as advice from a brother, nothing more. God sometimes adds comfort and conslation through the words of a born-from-above author. That’s what God did for me, and it seems reasonable God may do that for you as well, (although we never know, do we?)

Do we?

No finances brother that’s why I’m not prepared/willing to give my testimony on this forum.

Shalom/peace to you and family.
