I was reading through this list of Jesus’ miracles…and I’m wondering…How do you personally respond to the idea of miracles today? Do you believe they still happen, or were they just for confirming Jesus’ identity back then?
Jesus’s miracles were signs that helpped identify who he was.
While God is not limited and can still do those and many other miracles, we in the west rarely experience them.
Why? Partly because we’re not looking for them and partly because with modern health care and the abundance of bibles we don’t need them.
Would seeing a miracle make that much difference to ones faith?
The miracles are still here, it is the mindset of people that has changed. In our time frame, the question is about whether or not there is a God, in the Biblical timeframe, the question would be which god? It is all about free will, He is going to allow miracles to happen, but free will can not be part of the price. That was the entire subject of the opening act in the Book Of Job; they only like You because You do too much. Free will is under fire. The rich man wants to return to tell his family that God is real, no, free will is under fire. The children of Israel can watch all of the high level actions preformed by God, and still build a golden calf, free will was never under fire. When people would argue over gods, the way people now argue over verses, it was not such a big deal. Claim it was probably your god, or your god could have done a better job, and move on.Not how it works these days, but they are still here.
There is a story that I posted in a different topic earlier; perhaps it is more appropriate here: Iowa baby, born at 21 weeks, holds world record as the most premature | Fox News This story has really resonated with me today, as the family was told that there was 0% chance of survival. This baby is an ongoing miracle. Every day they get with this miracle, who is now a year old, is a real blessing.
God can find ways to bless you when you think there isn’t a chance. Look at the joy in their eyes. Praise God.
