im thankful to wake up this morning
right, no one wants to die even those that have died by suicide really wanted things fix’ed ,to have the pain stop. life it good death is bad
Life is good, death is the beginning of a way better life..the everlasting kind of better life, in His presence! But life on this rock isn’t just good, it’s a blessing ![]()
God bless
Me too! Every morning, when my brain surfaces from sleep I whisper 2 words..thank you. Then coffee..blessed are you Lord, living and enduring God, for bringing forth that particular fruit of the vine because you knew we’d need it! Lol. God is so so good..then my daily verse. Every day. The first thing I read is the daily Bible verse. I’m trying to wake up earlier to read the whole chapter each morning..but mornings are hard lol. Some days I’m successful and run with it. Other days not so much. But I read my Bible every day.
Sometimes at night, I can’t find the words for prayer so I just say thank you.
Two simple words, one big connection. It’s great isn’t it?
odd That Jesus never mentioned it

This IS how we ought to pray
~1 Thessalonians 5:16 through 18
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.”
The verb pray is proseuchesthe, a present imperative that carries the sense of continually praying, and the verb give thanks is eucharisteite, also a present imperative calling for ongoing gratitude.
~Ephesians 6:18
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests, with this in mind, be alert and always persevere in prayer for all the saints.”
The verb pray is proseuchomenoi, a present middle participle meaning continually praying, and the verb persevere is proskarterēsis, used with the sense of remaining steadfast in ongoing prayer.
~Colossians 4:2
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
The verb devote yourselves is proskartereite, a present active imperative meaning keep giving yourselves to prayer continually, and the verb being watchful is grēgorountes, a present participle meaning staying awake spiritually.
~Philippians 4:6
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
The verb present is gnōrizesthō, a present passive imperative meaning keep making your requests known to God, and the verbs prayer and petition show the continual offering of proseuchē and deēsis.
~Romans 12:12
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, persistent in prayer.”
The verb persistent is proskarterountes, a present active participle meaning continually persevering in prayer.
Shalom.

Really?
Living on a wing and a prayer-guess where that comes from.

@Johann I’m not eloquent in prayer, and my prayer over my morning coffee is just one of many daily. I’m always trying to give thanks for every little thing, like a coffee bean, the first snowfall, seeing a bird, like an Osprey fishing in the river I like to sit by, the stars, the first berries in my garden, the birds that chirp and make a symphony of noise in the backyard, and such things. I know it’s not fancy but thanking God in the every day, routine comings and goings (yes..I know
) keeps me in constant communication with Him. Throughout the day I’m offering up “popcorn prayers” for whoever and whatever comes to mind. I also find that being mindful of His hand in every detail of my life by giving thanks allows for open, honest conversations with Him. He is on my mind and heart every day, all day.
So no..Jesus didn’t say that but I love talking to Him all day, starting with my coffee. ![]()
I don’t often pray for myself though. When I do it’s for direction or understanding, or I’m reaching out for comfort, or just yearning to feel His presence. Sometimes I’ll have an idea about something I’d like to do so I’ll ask Him, “What do you think Lord?” Or “What should I do?” Then, I’ll wait for an answer. Sometimes He answers right away. I’ve heard a resounding “no” more than once and “not yet” many times, but when He says “yes” I feel joy, or sometimes relief, and feelings I can’t articulate.
I just usually don’t know what to ask for when praying for myself, so I offer up praise and gratitude instead.
When you pray for others, what do you pray for? If a friend asks for prayer for, let’s say, that her RV sells for top dollar, how would I put that to prayer? What do you pray for, for yourself?
I’m very interested in replies because I feel weak in prayer.
Thanks! ![]()
