Is It Wrong to Call Lebron James the GOAT? Is Jesus the Greatest Athlete of All Time?

Ever since the discussion of who “the GOAT” is in sports began, it’s been a topic of debate among my friends: Is it wrong to call a human “the greatest of all time”? Even if it’s clear that the discussion is regarding sports, would Jesus not still be the greatest athlete of all time, considering His time in the desert? Do you think Jesus is the Greatest Athlete of All Time?
I don’t think it’s wrong to call someone like LeBron the GOAT in sports as long as we keep it in perspective. It’s just a way of saying he’s exceptionally gifted in basketball, not greater in worth or glory.
But if we’re talking about true greatness, then yes, Jesus stands alone. He ran the race perfectly (Hebrews 12:1–2), conquered sin and death, and finished the ultimate victory no one else could. LeBron may dominate the court, but Christ defeated the grave. That’s the kind of “greatest of all time” that lasts forever.
King Saul was physically impressive, but failed God whereas David was smaller but in whom God found favor.
Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
I don’t have a problem with calling Lebron the GOAT as an athlete. Some may disagree whether he is the GOAT, but so be it. People debate who is the GOAT in all areas…Nick Saban or Bear Bryant (football coaches), George Jones of George Strait (country music), on and on. Who is the GOAT is just an opinion anyway. To the question of being wrong to say Lebron is the GOAT instead of Jesus; One in honesty, I think Lebron could probably outplay Jesus in basketball…just saying. I really think there are a lot more pressing issues that Jesus would like to be the GOAT of…like being your savior.
