If I could take you up in Paradise up above…
Dreams are featured prominently throughout scripture. You’ll hardly find a good story that doesn’t include someone’s dream. Have you had a dream you’d like to understand better? Post it here.

There is the dream that played a key role in leading me to Christ. I’ll never forget that dream:
Me, my mom, and my dad were in the kitchen talking about something. I forget what. Then out of the blue this trumpet sounds. I forced myself to hear it simply because knew I was supposed to hear it. My parent’s faces lit up with excitement. Then they were bathed in the blue light and slowly started ascending up to heaven. I was terrified because I was still there on the ground. But I learned a while ago how to control myself in my dreams. So, I made myself start ascending as well. Actually, it was more like flying like Iron-Man. All of a sudden, my whole family is gathered in the living room. We’re all holding these yellow papers that showed our status (what kind of Christians we were). I only saw my own. It said something along the lines of, “Not a true committed Christian.” In other words, ‘Christian’ was just a word I used to describe me. In my dream I asked my dad about it, but I forget exactly what he said. When I woke up, I was overcome by an evil spirit straight from hell: depression. But that’s another topic.
Very vivid recollection.
It was one of those rare dreams you never forget.
The words.
The lyrics.
When it all went wrong…
when I was young and unafraid.
I find the lyrics (poetry) of songs speak to me like dreams. It’s using words to evoke images and messages in a way that speak directly to our soul and experiences that create meaning through associating one thing to another.
Forgive the word salad. I’ve been listening to Kamala Harris too much.
I’ll rarely post a song, if I can’t find the lyrics to it.
I have dreamed countless times of building houses-- or building a house in various stages. In the spiritual sense and understanding-- you are the house. A physical person is a spiritual house. Have you ever thought of yourself in those terms? You are a house, or resting place for spirit? Neither did the Jewish leaders, and truly- it wasn’t until well after the fact of his death and resurrection and the writing of the gospels that people understood.
Jesus replied, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.” Then the Jewish leaders said to him, “This temple has been under construction for 46 years, and are you going to raise it up in three days?” But Jesus was speaking about the temple of his body.
I understand myself to be that house under construction that I’ve seen so many times in dream.
Whose house? Who lives in that house that is you?
Do not neglect hospitality because through it some have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as though you were in prison with them, and those ill-treated as though you, too, felt their torment.
This requires a whole new way of considering yourself, not as a spiritual person having some sort of human experience, rather you are a physical container for spirit— probably quite a foreign thought. Many would be familiar with the native Indian lore of two wolves that live within and that do battle with one another. Which one wins? --the one you feed– as the legend states.
People might struggle to understand the concept of spiritual warfare, but in a nutshell it’s that battle within that determines who is the Lord of your house.
Alas, let there be room for the spirit within us. Room at our Inn…
In my Father’s house there are many rooms… but who’s the Landlord? Who is the Inn Keeper? -forgive the brash language-- it illustrates the concept.
That sounds kinda…I don’t know…superstitious. That’s not the word I’m looking for, but hopefully you know what I mean.
I’ll interpret your comment as sounding- ‘unfamiliar’ since you already said you don’t really mean superstitious. Maybe the word you were hunting for was “supernatural” which I’d also accept. It should.
By definition:
relating to an order of existence beyond the visible observable universe
No, that’s not really the word I was looking for either. Don’t worry, it’ll come to me.
Probably “super-duper” then…
Ba-dum-psh! gol (groaning out loud).
I know what I was thinking of now. It’s ‘Mysticism.’
Or maybe I should say ‘Speculative Mysticism.’
Tell me… when you read the book of Revelation (Re: Your username) do you sense any sort of ‘mysticism’ (speculative or otherwise) at work?
We have Michael and his angels fighting a dragon and throwing the dragon and his angels from heaven to earth. And those accused by that dragon- Satan overcame it with the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony, not loving their lives so much as to fear death.
Pity the fool who discounts the mystery.
That’s different. You had a dream that could’ve come from the pizza you ate last night. God actually showed John all that stuff in heaven.
Ah… of course. Pizza dreams.
Let me know if you have one.
