Should people have the right to choose euthanasia?

People are debating whether euthanasia should be a personal right or if it crosses moral and ethical boundaries. While some see it as a compassionate choice to alleviate suffering, others argue it undermines the sanctity of life and raises concerns about societal impact and potential abuses. This discussion invites reflection on autonomy, faith, and the value of life in the face of suffering.

The topic of euthanasia, or assisted dying, sparks profound ethical, moral, and spiritual debates. Advocates for euthanasia argue that individuals facing unbearable suffering or terminal illness should have the right to choose a dignified and peaceful end to their lives. They believe this choice respects personal autonomy and alleviates needless pain.

Opponents, however, often cite moral, religious, and societal concerns. Many believe that life is sacred and only God has the authority to determine when it should end. Others worry about potential abuses, such as pressure on vulnerable individuals or the possibility of normalizing euthanasia in ways that could harm society.

As Christians, we may also consider how our faith informs our perspective on suffering, the sanctity of life, and trust in God’s plan, even in the midst of great pain.

What do you think? Should individuals have the legal right to choose euthanasia, or are there moral and societal reasons to oppose it?

Hi,

Job 14:5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; KJV

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; KJ V

So the Bible says our days are numbered implying our Creator did the numbering. Who else could do this?
Ecclesiastes tells us there is a time for us to die. Who gave us this time?

So would it stand to reason that if God numbered our days, and knows the time, He would know we were going to commit euthanasia?
Is it possible for man to take something under God’s control?
I don’t believe it is possible.
God is all-knowing.
He knows what will happen.
Nothing surprises Him

Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. KJV

1 John 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. KJV

Since God is all-knowing, He knows that a person will choose euthanasia.
I do not see an issue with it.
That’s my reasoning.

Blessings

There are several issues, including the patient being coerced into the decision, medical personnel abusing the situation, and next of kin being ready to get on without the patient.

Yet, it is cruel to force a patient of a painful illness or injury that can’t be healed suffer. We don’t allow pets to suffer that way.

I do not have a stance simply because it is so complicated.
