I don’t want to get political here, but does anybody have any comments on whether Trump should get the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on bringing peace to Israel? Any biblical comments?
My advice? Give it a minute.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
5 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, **2 **for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. **3 **While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape
Daniel 9:27 This prophecy describes a future ruler (often interpreted as the Antichrist) who will make a strong covenant or treaty for a period of time, but will break it halfway through the agreed period, bringing desolation
**27 **And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate

Isaiah 33:1 This verse pronounces a “woe” (judgment) on those who destroy and betray, promising that they will eventually suffer the same fate they inflicted on others: “Woe to you, destroyer, you who have not been destroyed! Woe to you, betrayer, you who have not been betrayed! When you stop destroying, you will be destroyed; when you stop betraying, you will be betrayed”.
-
Predicts a future invasion by a coalition of nations from the north, led by Gog of Magog, against Israel during a time of peace.
-
States that God will gather all nations against Jerusalem for battle, resulting in the city’s capture, but ultimately God will fight against them.

Contains a pattern of betrayal that foreshadows Judas Iscariot’s betrayal of Jesus. It describes a close friend who betrays another for personal gain.
Trump may have contributed to historic political peace efforts, and God can use anyone for His purposes. But the Nobel Peace Prize, if considered through a biblical viewpoint, should reward not only the result but also the righteousness of the path taken. Definitely a big step in the right direction. Either way, I hope all of the loss of life and horrific actions by both sides is truly over. Regardless of political slant, I think as Christians, we should think and study more-so on how Jesus would respond to all of this. Jesus would likely care less about whether Trump deserves a Nobel Peace Prize and more about whether his actions reflect humility, justice, and a heart truly surrendered to God….because in God’s kingdom, it’s not the prize that matters, but the fruit.
