You would be wrong. But if you are Jehovah’s Witness that is the least of your problems.
You have been asked several times, albeit indirectly, if you are a Jehovah’s Witness and you have not offered to confirm or deny the assumption. That said, I will now ask you directly; are you Jehovah’s Witness? Keep in mind that to deny this is to deny God and to reply with out answering is avoidance, which is a LIE of omission. A simple yes or no will suffice.
To the Christians in this thread, remember this is the CROSSwalk forums, not the POLEwalk forums. The cross is a symbol
of Chrstianity (much like a purple triangle for those who would argue in favor of a pole) and not an idol. It’s not the mode but the means.
This all sounds like “fruitless discussion”. Salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone.
Amen to that. (Hince the “It’s not the mode but the means” comment. Still, nice to see it worded in that way.) Be it † † † or | | | , it was still Murderer, Jesus, Thief. Don’t forget the messge.
The point of the jehovas witnesses a valid point. I mean sure,it does require thought. I mean why would all the churches have the instrument of his death pinned to there churches. Why not his life? So I say it don’t matter. If it was a cross or a tree. What matters is you believe. Is the story true? He died for me and you too. How he did it and why is left to your own imagination. And personal walk with christ!
And the reason why the Church historically has always clung to the cross as her most sacred symbol goes all the way back to what St. Paul himself says about the cross. And our long and ancient tradition of hymns speaking deeply of the importance of the cross.
1 Sing, my tongue, the ageless story
As the cross is lifted high!
Tell how Christ our Savior conquered,
When for us he came to die
As a victim in the battle,
Death’s dominion to belie.2 Adam tasted sin and sorrow,
Eating of the fearful tree;
All undoing our enchainment,
By the tree Christ sets us free,
Crushing hell’s own tool of bondage
By his great humility.3 Silence cloaked the earth and heavens
Round the hill of Calvary;
Nailed upon the tree of glory,
Christ endured his agony.
In his royal blood descending
Comes our peace, our liberty.4 Cross triumphant! Cross transforming!
Ensign of humanity!
Faithful cross, above all others,
One and only noble tree:
Gracious wood and gracious iron,
Gracious burden borne on thee!– “Sing My Tongue, Venantius Fortunatas, 6th century
Show me faith alone without works? and I’ll show you dead faith.
Salvation is in faith alone in Christ alone. I’ll let Jesus figure out the rewards at His Judgement Seat. Not for us to judge. If you are motivated to be “right” before God by your fruit, knock yourself out, I guess. Scary, but your choice.
Exactly what “evidence” is it that you refer to. I believe you are incorrect, but will listen if you have actual credible evidence of your allegations. The important thing is that Jesus died. He died for us.
above my pay grade. i appreciate you weighing in, along with everyone else. its not something ive studied deeply in any means.
But not by my choice.fact
A deep topic indeed.
I’m happy to consider any scripture that you want to offer. But I’m pretty content that I am motivated by God to understand the Biblical truth, and I don’t think you are sharing the truth.
SO it isn’t a “tough question to hear” at all. We should all always consider our motives, and I am happy to participate in that very important exercise.
