šŸ“š Class Is In Session!

POST-IT NOTE:

I debated on which category was the right one for this post. I immediately thought of Education, but it just didn’t seem to be the right spot. Then I thought about Feedback… and that wouldn’t do. Then I thought about the Lounge. I figured AL’s was as good a spot as any to post it. If not, may the powers that be (ie., admins ) move it where it needs to be.

Anyways, I digress… I’m going to teach you all some little known, little used tricks you can use when making posts and replies.

First Lesson: You know about emojis, but did you know you can place them in your ā€˜subject’ line? *See above With this trick you can add flavor and make your topic ā€œPOPā€. Do you like the :books: in mine?

Second Lesson: Tiny text can be used to make notations about previous text. *Such as this one.

I did the above text by adding some HTML language to it. To me, it looked like this…

<small>*Such as this one.</small>

The first <small> starts the tiny text command where as the </small> tells it to stop. And yes, it does compound so you can do micro-text as well using…

<small><small>micro-text</small></small>

Third Lesson: PAY ATTENTION! You can underline using Markup in much the same way. Notice below that I am using [ ] and not < > to do this. The text I used looked like this…

PAY ATTENTION!

So now you can use this trick to drive home a point.

Fourth Lesson: If you want to point out something another way, you can always highlight it. Again, this is HTML, as identified by the < > and not the [ ]. To me, it looked like…

<mark>highlight</mark>

I hope you have enjoyed your first class. Give a  or a :+1: if you liked it and I may do more lessons. Feel free to try some of the above tricks out in a reply to this post.

Until next time…

Good Job
I was unaware of the underline markup.

I learn something new every day.
Thanx

@KPuff
So, what you’re saying is you want more?

Maybe your next lesson should be on forum skills to learn. Not etiquette rules, or laws, but thoughts, ideas, or suggestions that make reading posts easier, and help comprehension. For instance, when replying to a person’s post, use the black-lettered ā€œReplyā€ button at the bottom of their post, and not but big blue reply button at the bottom of the thread. The platform is supposed to track these P2P interactions and display specifically which previous-post the poster is responding to with an icon at the top-right of the new post. (it doesn’t always succeed in my experience) Just a suggestion.

That’s another topic for another post, but a great idea none the less. Thank you KP. I will work on that as well.
