:locked: Forum Etiquette For ALL

I know, I know… this is like summer break and you encounter your teacher at the store. No one likes extra class work… But here is a little something of a bonus for you. You know you love it. At least the lesson is free, you only have to pay attention.

Thirteenth Lesson: Quick little jumbo letters in text to enlarge one entire area is simple to do.

Example Text

You can do this like this…

blank line
Example Text
-
blank line

This also works on emojis that get small after doing four or more in a row.

Before = :frowning:

After = :frowning:

Taa dah! Okay, not really exceptional, but still useful. But what if you want a BIGGER emoji? Well then, do I have something for you.

Putting in some simple HTML like so…

<img width="100" height="100" src='/images/emoji/facebook_messenger/exploding_head.png?v=150' title='?' alt='&shy; ID10T Error' class='t'></img>

Will cause the following…

 ID10T Error

Mind blown yet? You can change the exploding_head.png portion of the code to other emoji types just by selecting one from your emoji list and removing the : : from it. For examle, changing exploding_head.png to smile.png does this…

 ID10T Error

In addition, you can also alter the width="100" height="100" for larger and smaller sizes. Standard size is 20x20. The above is 200x200. Be carefull going too large, the emoji are in png format and thus are low quality. Keep them 200 or less. They will distort…

 ID10T Error

Enjoy! - Please use sparingly. This can get annoying.

Fourteenth Lesson: Handy in forum look-ups. You may already know about using wiki if you took the time to do the forums tuorials. Taking advantage of the oEMBED feature of many websites, you can also do this…

Word Definitions: Paste https://merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sample and change sample to what you want to look up or post. For example, hall-pass.

You can also find synonyms and antonyms by changing dictionary to thesuarus…

Bible Verse: Paste https://www.christianity.com/bible/search/?ver=niv&q=john+3:16 in your message. You can change the chapter:verse. Ex., John3:16. You can aso change niv to kjv, amp, or msg for other bible translations. (Do this one verse at a time. Multiple verses will not show in the oEMBED window.)

Examples of Two Translations Below:

Well then… I hope you all learned thing or two. You can’t have Learned without earned.

all men. (1) Grace is offered savingly to all men, since Christ died for all (Jhn_12:32, Rom_5:6, 2Co_5:14, Heb_2:9, 1Jn_2:2). Grace is God’s non-legal way of dealing with sinful man. God “…wills all conceivable men to be saved…” (1Ti_2:4 note. Eph_2:14), but grace is something that must be received (Jhn_1:11-12, Rom_1:5; Rom_5:11; Rom_5:17; Rom_8:15). There is grace that is resisted, but there is no such thing as “irresistible grace.” Men must cooperate with God, that is, fulfill His conditions in order to receive His grace, mercy, and compassion (Rom_9:15 note) [Lavender NT, fn i]. (2) Sober, righteous and godly living in the here and now are the teachings of grace, not TULIP. Reformation and Calvinistic advocates claim that deliverance from sin, holiness, is an after-life experience. But Paul wrote in 2Co_6:2, “…pay attention, now is a ’day of salvation.’” There is no other day of salvation; no other time, or opportunity, or hope awaits us. Holiness is now or never, it is “…in the now age.” There is no time after this time, no place after this place, no day after this day! [see Jhn_8:21 note]. The verb hagiazō (to sanctify or make holy) does not appear even once in the Greek New Testament in the future tense. This fact deals a deadly blow to the false doctrine that complete sanctification or holiness awaits the believer on the other side of the grave. Furthermore, it should not pass our notice that the language is not without a future construction for hagiazō (hagiasō, future tense). So the future construction exists, but there is no sanctification beyond this life. Calvinists, and all sinning religionists, who claim that holiness is an after-life experience, have missed class and flunked out on the doctrines of grace (cf. Jud_1:4). (3) Grace is the kindness and love of God for mankind (See Tit_3:4 and note). (4) Grace makes righteous (See Tit_3:7 and note). (5) Grace delivers from sin (See Rom_6:1-3; Rom_6:7; Rom_6:12-18 and notes). We are no longer under the old economy, the Law, with its inadequate sacrificial system. “For sin will not rule over you: because you are not under law but under grace” (Rom_6:14). The Law never did condone sin, but was never able to deliver from it. The blood of bulls cannot take away sins (cf. Heb_10:1-4; Heb_10:11-14). Under grace sin’s reign has come to an end because of the once-for-all Sacrifice of Christ! Grace is not license to sin, but enablement to forsake sin; grace enables us to live free of sin in a way the Law never could (LNT, fn i). Psa_67:2, Pro_8:4, +Luk_3:6, Jhn_1:7; Jhn_1:9; Jhn_5:23, Act_17:30, Rom_10:18, Col_1:6, ++1Ti_2:1; +
+1Ti_2:4; +
+1Ti_2:6, +**2Pe_3:9.

Till then, keep up the good work you do here.

J.

Please elaborate on “pop-up”. Tell me what you envision in your mind in detail. (It helps me understand your requiremnts better) Do you mind scripting it in manually for each instance if I can show you how? That’s assuming it will work. The forums limit a lot of HTML, so a true pop-up window is out. That would need to be written into the forums source code. I can’t do that. I can explore other means though.

Additonally, “hovered on” entails the user is using a mouse. What about users on a mobile device? Perhaps “on click/tap”? Would that work for what you need?

Yep, a click/tab, that would definitely work.

J.

Hmm, I wonder if this would work here…

John 3:16

If you don’t see a clickable button, it failed.

fyi - this is what I tried…
<button type="button" onclick="alert'For God so loved the world...'">John 3:16</button>

No clickable button @Joe-Also but I do appreciate you trying.

J.

@Johann - This dosen’t do it for you?

In the verse, John 3:16[1] God shows his great love for all of us. Wonderful is it not?

You can also do form text as well. Say you wish to do a layout that looks as is. you could pause html wrapping…

   And you can type...
                                     And type...
              or type even...
And it will show as is. :-)

nice huh?

is this useful to

you?
